Tiger census result expected in November
Bangalore, Feb 14 (UNI) The outcome of the tiger census conducted in Karnataka in 2005-06 by the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, was expected to be out by November this year, State Forests Minister C Chennigappa informed the Legislative Council today.
Replying to a question raised by Mukyamanthri Chandru of the BJP, he said the State had constituted a Tiger Task force for conducting the census, as per the directions of the Prime Minister. A sum of Rs 25.47 lakh was released for the purpose, he added.
The Minister said the 2001 census accounted for about 350 to 400 tigers in the State.
