Three killed as concrete rings caves in

Chennai, Feb 14 (UNI) Three employees of a construction company were killed and another seriously injured when giant concrete rings meant for plugging the water holes collapsed on them at suburb Kaiveli near here today.

Police said the mishap occurred when the group of engineers of the company were engaged in erecting giant concrete pillars for erecting a steel tower for high tension over head power line of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB).

The deceased were identified as Saghayam (21), Patcha (30) and Vanathaiyan (40) of Varadharajan Pettai Vridhachalam in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu.

While the body of Vanathaiyan was recovered and sent for post-mortem at Government General Hospital, efforts were on to recover two other bodies, police said.

The seriously injured Arokiasamy was admitted to a near by private hospital, police added.
