Speaker accepts Mohite's resignation, rejects Ambreesh's
New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today accepted the resignation of Shiv Sena MP Subodh Mohite but rejected the one submitted by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting M H Ambareesh on technical grounds.
Mr Mohite personally met the Speaker and submitted his resignation. The MP from Ramtek constituency in Maharashtra, had resigned from his party and Parliament after failing to get an audience with Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray.
However, Mr Chatterjee did not accept the resignation of Mr Ambareesh, who represented Mandya Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka, as it was not in order.
The speaker's office contended that Mr Ambareesh had faxed the resignation, which was not the acceptable method of putting in papers.
The Minister resigned claiming that the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal had been ''unfair'' to Karnataka in its final verdict.
