Policemen's murder accused killed in encounter

Lucknow, Feb 14: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh police gunned down a history-sheeter, accused in the murder of two police personnel, near Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in the state capital.

Few days back, hardcore criminal Suraj had killed two policemen at the Kalakhajuri railway station in Amethi and fled away with an undertrial Santosh Pandey.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of the notorious criminals under Mohanlalgang police station area, cops reached the spot late last night and shot dead Suraj, carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head.

His associate, however, managed to escape.

Two rifles and a pistol were recovered from the spot, police today said.

A manhunt has been launched to arrest his aide.
