PM meets President; Cabinet meeting tomorrow
New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) A day ahead of the Cabinet meeting to approve the President's address to a joint sitting of Parliament, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today called on President A P J Abdul Kalam and discussed the coming Budget session.
The meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan lasted 30 minutes, an official spokesman said.
Dr Kalam will address Parliament on the opening day of the Budget session beginning on February 23. Unless re-elected, this will be his last address to Parliament as his present five-year tenure expires in July.
The Budget session will last till May 22, with a 27-day recess in between.
The Union Budget will be presented on February 28. The Railway Budget will be presented on February 26 and the annual economic survey the next day.
The first phase of the session will end March 21 with the two houses adjourning for a recess till April 17, during which various committees will discuss the demands of different ministries.
The session will have 42 sittings.
