Mah govt to purchase captive power from industrial units
Mumbai,Feb 14 (UNI) The Maharashtra government today set up a committee, headed by the Energy Secretary, to plan the purchase of captive power from different industrial units in the state and finalise the modalities in three days.
The committee comprises of Energy Secretary, Industries Secretary, Industries Development Commissioner and MD of Mahavitaran, the power transmission company of the state government.
The Government has shown readiness to purchase about 400 to 500 MW from the captive power plants situated in industrial units. The tenders will be issued in three days.
The decision was taken at a meeting between Industries Minister Ashok Chavan and representatives of the Small and Medium Industries Associations here today.
The Associations had agreed to voluntarily cut down on power consumption and said that two days of power cuts in industrial units would hamper industrial growth in the state.
