Lawyers stage road blockade

Chennai, Feb 14 (UNI) A group of Madras High Court lawyers today blocked a road in front of the High Court and on the busy Santhome road, to protest against the city police for allegedly trying to arrest a senior advocate after an altercation.

Sources said senior advocate K Duraisamy was driving on the Santhome road, when a senior police official stopped him for alleged traffic violation and tried to take him to a police station after an altercation.

On learning that the senior advocate was humiliated by the police, his colleagues rushed to the spot and blocked the Santhome road, expressing solidarity with him and demanding action against the police official.

Later the lawyers staged a road blockade in front of the High Court.

Meanwhile, the advocates have also decided to abstain from the Courts tomorrow to press their demand for action against the police official.
