Karnataka CM discusses Bangalore ring road with Baalu

New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and State Public Works Minister H D Revanna today called on Union Surface Transport Minister T R Baalu to discuss an eight lane ring road around Bangalore, to make it overcome the infrastructure bottlenecks in the I T capital of the country.

The two ministers, called on Mr Balu about the plans of the Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority to link satellite towns around Bangalore and an Intermediate Ring Road measuring 284 KM and 185 KM respectively. The state government has asked the National Highway Authority of India to take up early execution of Ring roads and radial roads.

Mr Baalu on his part told the Chief Minister that the NHAI would prepare a Detailed Project Report for the proposed ring road through a reputed consultant and the Centre was interested in overall development of Bangalore which in turn had contributed to overall economic growth of the country.

About Karnataka's request for improving Malpe port the Union Minister told Mr Swamy that Malpe was one of the seven non-major ports identified in the country for strengthening the facilities and his Ministry would address the issue during the 11th plan period.
