'Internal security' of Bihar under threat : BJP

Patna, Feb 14 (UNI) The BJP today said internal security threats has been looming large over the country in the wake of "soft attitude" of the Congress towards "terrorists, extremists and naxalites".

BJP National General Secretary Kiran Ghai here today said the escalating price of essential commodities was the failure of the government.

Criticising the policies of the Congress in connection with tackling terrorism and extremism, she told newspersons here that the country was facing internal security threats while on the other hand people were now unable to bear the soaring prices of essential goods.

Referring to the repeal of POTA by the UPA government, Mr Ghai said the repeal has helped the terrorists.

''The Congress's support to the demand for mercy to Afzal Guru also exposed the party's intentions,''she added.

Ms Ghai further said whenever the Congress came to power, the prices of essential commodities escalated and inflation was currently at 6.6 percent whereas it slipped to 2 percent during the NDA's regime.

She said the agricultural growth rate plummeted to 3.4 percent and alleged that the farmers were left with no options but to commit suicide following the faulty policies of the UPA government.

She lashed at the UPA government saying that price rise, blackmarketing and crisis of goods became rampant whenever the party came to power at the Centre.

She said the BJP was committed to expose the actual face of the Congress and had taken out six separate "yatras"(march) across the state.

The yatra, which began on February 4, would conclude on February 27 after covering 4997 kms.
