IMC plans 'animal parade' on IMC Marg
Mumbai, Feb 14 (UNI) As part of its plan to beautify the metropolis, the Indian Merchants' Chamber proposes to decorate the IMC Marg stretch with paintings and sculptures of animal faces.
The IMC's ''animal parade'' will be undertaken jointly with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the JJ School of Arts, a press release here today said.
Students from the JJ School of Arts will paint pictures of animals, both domestic and wild, during an art camp in their campus on February 15 and 16. These paintings will be put up on prominent cityscapes, the release added.
Besides, about 25 lifelike fibre glass replicas of three animals -- cows, lions and elephants, have been prepared by the IMC which too would be displayed.
The paintings and sculptures will be adjudged by an eminent panel headed by RPG Group chief Harsh Goenka and the top three painters will be awarded prizes.
The paintings and sculptures will continue to adorn the stretch for two years after which they will be donated to the BMC for display in their schools, parks and other premises, the release said. They could also be auctioned and the money donated to municipal charities, the release said.
