Hindu activists protest Valentine's day celebrations
Hubli, Feb 14 (UNI) Several Hindu organisations today staged demonstrations in the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad, protesting against Valentine's day celebrations and burnt effigies.
Hindu Sena activists in Dharwad caught hold of three couples engaged in the celebration and handed them over to the police. They also burnt effigies, representing the day, in front of a college and Murusavir mutt premises.
Activists kept vigil in front of greeting card shops and colleges.
City Commissioner of Police Narayan Nadamani said elaborate arrangements were made in the twin cities to maintain peace.
