'Export House' status for co-operative society

Kottayam, Feb 14: The Pala Marketing Co-operative Society, the largest primary marketing society in south India, has been given the 'Export House' status.

Society President K K Abraham said the honour was given to the Society by the Foreign Trade Directorate under the Union Commerce Ministry taking into account its exports during 2003-04 to 2005-06.

During the period, the Society exported 12,000 tonne of Natural Rubber worth Rs 72 crore. This was for the first time that a primary cooperative society was getting the honour in the country, he claimed.
