EU lawmakers back report, condemn CIA flights
STRASBOURG, France, Feb 14 (Reuters) The European Parliament backed a final report condemning US secret flights and accusing European governments and secret services of having accepted and concealed the practice on several occasions.
The European Parliament says in its report that it ''condemns extraordinary rendition as an illegal instrument used by the United States in the fight against terrorism.
''(It) condemns, further, the acceptance and concealing of the practice, on several occasions, by the secret services and governmental authorities of certain European countries.'' The report was adopted by a large majority, as 382 voted in favour, 256 against and 74 abstained.
