Punjab: Election duty staff killed in accident

Phagwara, Feb 14: A member of election duty staff was killed and six others were injured when a bus carrying them collided with a tractor trolley near Goraya on the National Highway last night.

The deceased was identified as Diwan Singh of Jalandhar. The injured, identified as Ajit Singh, Jasbir singh, Sodhi Ram, Deepak Sharma, Rajeev Kumar and Jagdish Raj, were admitted to Phagwara hospital.

Police has impounded the tractor trolley, but the driver of tractor trolley managed to escape.

According to reports received here today the bus number PB-08-8861 carrying election duty staff was returning from Phillaur to Jalandhar when the tractor trolley, loaded with iron rods, suddenly collided with it.
