EC directs district EO's to file FIR against NDTV

New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) has asked the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab to direct all the district Electoral Officers (EO) to file First Information Report (FIR) against the news channel NDTV for telecasting instant exit poll results of the Punjab Assembly election.

According to EC sources, the commission's order came after NDTV violated Section 126 of the Representation of the People's Act, when it continuously showed the ''as-on-basis'' as well as the ''assemly constituency basis'' exit polls on booth to booth basis during the state's assembly poll yesterday.
