Dabhol power to be fully functional by Nov' 07

Mumbai, Feb 14 (UNI) The Ratnagiri Gas and Power Project Ltd (RGPPL) at Dabhol will be fully functional by November this year, RGPPL said.

After taking stock of the repair work of block two of the project with energy department officials and Power Minister Dilip Walse Patil, RGPPL Chairman and Managing Director Chandan Roy told reporters that the repair of block two will be completed by March 30 and will generate 700 MW of electricity.

Block three will be functional by July and block one will be ready by November. At present 300 MW of electricity was being generated from RGPPL, he said.

The issue of farmers opposing the gas pipeline because it passed through their fields had been sorted out, Mr Roy said. The pipeline will be ready for commissioning by May 31.

He said Petronet Ltd will supply 1.2 million tonne of gas per annum to RGPPL. Negotiations should be completed in ten days and the pricing of gas will be finalised in the next few days. The total requirement of gas for the plant is 2.1 million tonne per annum, he said.

Alternate means to procure gas, other than what is being purchased by Petronet, will be found, he said adding that RGPPL will produce 2,125 MW out of the installed capacity of 2,150 MW of the entire project from November.
