Couples play hide and seek with Shiv Sainiks on V-day
Ranchi, Feb 14 (UNI) Love birds celebrated Valentine's Day with a hide and seek game with the Shiv Sainiks and Bajrang Dal activists in the state capital today.
Despite protests from Shiv Sena and the Bajrang Dal, the couples celebrated the day by exchanging flowers and gifts with their loved ones at places like Sidhu Kanhu Park, Nakshtra Van and Machi Ghar.
The Shiv Sainiks and Bajrang Dal activists targetted few of the couples at the Nakshtra Van, one of the main centres for the couples. However, the matter was sorted out with the intervention of local police.
The district administration made elaborate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident in view of alleged protests by Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and other organisations like Hindu Jagran Manch.
The organisations had announced to protest the V-day celebrations saying the celebration signifies the influence of western culture.
Meanwhile, many of the couples opted for locations like Birsa Munda Botanical Park at the Ormanjhi, about 20 kms from the city to avoid any embarrassing situation.
Yesterday, activist of Hindu Jagaran Manch burnt greeting cards to mark their protest.
