Certification of 89 coke companies cancelled

Ranchi, Feb 14 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today cancelled certification of 89 non-functional Coke producing companies of the state.

Talking to mediapersons here Health Minister Bhanu Pratap Shahi said certification of 89 out of 242 coke companies had to be cancelled as they were not functional.

Moreover, they were also selling coals in open market after lifting it from Central coal fields(CCL), Bharat Cooking Coal fields (BCCL) and Austin coal fields under linkage system, he added.

Mr Shahi said due to cancellation of the certificates, these companies now could not lift coal from CCL, BCCL or austin coal fields.

A four-member team had been constituted to review the condition of the rest 153 companies, he said.

The committee is expected to file its report in a month.

The government had already instructed the owners concerned to pay the dues to the 394 labourers, who were rendered jobless, following the closure of these units.
