Alcatel-Lucent with ITI win multi-million Euro BSNL contract

Bangalore, Feb 14 (UNI) Alcatel-Lucent today announced a major contract with ITI, India's largest telecom equipment manufacturing company, for the supply and installation of two million GSM lines to BSNL.

Based on the leading Alcatel-Lucent GSM/EDGE technology, the multi-million Euro contract covered the expansion of BSNL's mobile network in Western India, enabling the operator to provide more widely available mobile communications services. This new contract underscored Alcatel-Lucent's leadership in high growth economies and its strong presence in India, a company release here said.

''The expansion of the GSM network, particularly in rural areas, will improve the lives of millions in India,'' ITI Chairman and Managing Director Pritam Singh said.
