Airtel slashes roaming charges by up to 56 pc
New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) Leading cellular operator Airtel today slashed roaming tariffs by up to 56 per cent, at par with existing local call tariffs.
From tomorrow, Airtel subscribers, while outside their local service area, will be able to make local calls at Rs 1.40 per minute as against Rs 2.89 to Rs 3.09 per minute earlier.
STD calls will be chargeable at Rs 2.40 per minute in comparison to Rs 3.54 to Rs 3.99 per minute. Subscibers can also receive incoming calls without getting any financial hiccups as they will be paying just Rs 1.75 per minute. Earlier, Rs 3.54 to Rs 3.99 were charged per minute of incoming calls.
Roaming rental of Rs 49 has been waived off.
''We now usher in an era of simplified roaming tariffs, wherein all Airtel mobile users will benefit from our seamless network and have the opportunity to make calls while traveling anywhere in India,'' Bharti Airtel Joint President (Mobile Services) Sanjay Kapoor said.
