92 escapees of jail break still at large

Jehanabad (Bihar), Feb 14 (UNI) Despite the arrest of Ajay Kanu, the mastermind behind the infamous 'operation jailbreak' in Jehanabad, at least 92 jail escapees are yet to be arrested.

Police said today that altogether 374 inmates had escaped when Maoist militants attacked the jail on November 13, 2005. Out of them, 242 absconders either returned on their own or later surrendered in the court while 40 were rearrested.

Police said though most of the escapees belonged to the neighbouring districts like Patna, Gaya, Aurangabad and Bhojpur but actions taken against these fugitives by the police of these districts was not known.
