85 poll percentage in second phase Manipur elections
Imphal, Feb 14(UNI) Almost 85 per cent of around eight lakh voters exercised their franchise in 29 assembly seats of three districts in Manipur today.
Despite heavy rains and minor incidents, the polling passed off peacefully.
Election officials here said though the polling ended at 1530 hours in the three districts of Imphal East, West and Bishenpur, reports came late from the far-flung districts.
Election officials said that the election was largely peaceful except few minor incidents.
They said about 86 percent poll percentage was recorded at Imphal East, 84 percent at Imphal West and 85 percent at Bishenpur.
About 14 EVMs did not function properly and had to be replaced.
Similar problems were also noticed in the first phase of the elections held on February 8 in which some EVMs machines did not function properly.
