Valentine's Day to be opposed in MP
Bhopal, Feb 13 (UNI) Even as Hindu outfits have warned against celebration of Valentine's Day in the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, some organisations have come out in support of lovers.
Describing Valentine's Day as a symbol of western culture, Shiv Sena and Bajrang Dal had asserted their right to protest against it.
While Valentine's Day has taken political contours, police have made comprehensive arrangements to deal with mischief-mongers and trouble-makers.
A state police headquarters spokesperson told UNI that all Superintendents of Police (SPs) had been directed to deal strictly with the situation.
Bhopal SP Anant Kumar Singh said additional police force will be deployed at restaurants, picnic spots and parks on February 14.
State Shiv Sena President Suresh Gurjar said they will request lovers to refrain from celebrating the day but other methods will be adopted if things do not work out.
Meanwhile, the National Students Union of India's (NSUI) Bhopal unit had decided to deal with opponents of Valentine,s Day with 'Gandhigiri'.
However, 'Gandhigiri' will be used until things remain in limit. The NSUI will not refrain from use of force after that.
Nationalist Congress Party's Bhopal unit President Rajni Raut said the party has decided 'Dand pooja' for mischief-mongers.
Party workers, including women, will be posted at various places on February 14.
The NSUI and NCP have started a helpline number so that victims can contact them.
