TTD chief seeks goddess' blessing for mass marriages

Tirupati, Feb 13 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) Board Chairman B Karunakar Reddy sought the blessings of Goddess Padmavathi by placing the 'mangalsutras' and other items at her feet for the February 22 mass marriages to be conducted by the board.

Mr Reddy carried 'mangalsutras,' 'mettalu' (toe rings) and other items on his head in a procession to the Tiruchanoor Temple of the goddess amid chanting of vedic hymns from the 'Pasupu Mandam.' Later, Mr Reddy and TTD officials took part in the 'Lakshmi Yagam' at Ammavaru Kalyana Mandapam.

After the yagam, the TTD chief handed over the marriage items to an official for distribution.
