Tihar prisoner dies while undergoing de-addiction treatment

New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) A 28-year-old Afghan convict, serving sentence in Tihar, today died while undergoing drug de-addiction treatment at Deen Dayal Upadhayay Hospital.

Naqibullah, an Afghanistan national, who had several drug related cases against him and was brought to Tihar in July last year, died at DDU Hospital this morning where he was shifted after his condition deteriorated at the Jail Hospital, said a Tihar official.

''Naqibullah, a drug addict who was undergoing de-addiction treatment was sent to the Jail Hospital after he was found unconscious in his ward yesterday. Later he was shifted to the DDU Hospital. He showed no signs of improvement, and died this morning.'' However, an SDM enquiry has been ordered into the incident and his relatives have been informed.
