TCI, Concor tie up for rail-road based logistics services

New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) Logistics solution provider Transport Corporation of India (TCI) today tied up with container train operator Container Corporation of India (Concor) for rail-road based door-to-door logistics and warehousing services.

The two companies have signed an agreement for establishing a long-term joint working group (JWG) that would devise strategies for serving customers through suitable hub and spoke arrangements.

Tie-up will capitalise on the strength of both the partners to provide the new logistics service for domestic and EXIM cargo of businesses. For rail transport and terminal handling, Concor's network of 58 facilities located all over the country and for road transport, shipping and warehousing, TCI's fleet of almost 6,000 trucks will be utilised.

Apart from the trucking operations, TCI also owns four cargo ships and has tie-ups for airfreight, both for domestic and International requirements.

Commenting on the tie up, Concor's Director for domestic business Anil Gupta said, ''The Indian logistics sector is on an upswing and has immense potential that is yet to be tapped. This strategic tie-up will open greater avenues for customers with varied requirements by offering them multi-modal transport solutions.''
