Police resort to firing to control mob

Raisen, MP, Feb 13 (UNI) Police fired four rounds in the air at Sanchi in this district to disperse a mob after two groups clashed last night over counting of votes polled during cooperative elections.

Three cases have been registered against more than 100 people with six named accused. However, no arrests had been made thus far.

The violence started over counting of votes polled at Fagneshwar polling centre. Some people stormed into the room where counting was taking place and tore ballot papers.

Police resorted to mild force and fired four rounds in the air in order to control the situation.

A detailed report regarding the violence at polling centre has been sent by the presiding officer to the Collector.
