Hyderabad, Feb 13: Irked by the ruling Congress finding faults with the CPI(M) for joining hands with the TDP in the Local Body elections last year, CPI(M) Floor Leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly N Narasimaiah today reminded the ruling party that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's continuance in the post depended mainly on the Left parties.

Intervening during the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address, the CPI(M) leader told the Congress point blank that it was running a coalition Government at the Centre with crucial outside support from the Left parties.

The Congress no longer enjoyed the 400-plus MPs strength in the Lok Sabha it had during Rajiv Gandhi's times, he recalled, asking Congress member Devineni Rajasekhar alias Nehru to mind his words.

Earlier, making a dig at the CPI(M) for aligning with the TDP just for the sake of two Zilla Parishads, the Congress member said he had great respect for CPI(M) stalwart P Sundaraiah and thought that present state Secretary B V Raghavulu was also a leader of the former's stature.

He would have been happy had the CPI(M) parted with the Congress differing with its policies. But it had reached an electoral understanding with the TDP just for the sake of a few seats, he said.

Even while having alliance with the CPI(M), the Congress did its best to ruin his party by fielding rebels in the elections to Cooperatives and Municipal bodies, the leader said.
