Mysore, Feb 13 (UNI) The proposal for doubling the railway track from Mysore to Ramanagaram has been sent to the Planning Commission for its approval, Member of Parliament C H Vijayashankar said today.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said necessary funds would be allocated in the coming railway budget. Last year, the State Government had sanctioned Rs 25 crore for the purpose. He would bring pressure on the Railway ministry in this connection, he assured, urging the authorities to complete the Mysore-Ramanagaram railway doubling along with the Bangalore-Ramanaaram line.

Stating that Rs 20 crore would be spent on modernisation and upgradation of the Mysore railway station to facilitate more long distance trains, Mr Vijayashankar said three platforms would be extended. Work on another booking centre and entrance to the railway station was expected to be completed in another six months.

A master plan would be prepared for the overall development of the old Mysore railway workshop, he said, asking the officials to complete the process within the next three months.
