MNS Sangli district chief held on rape charges
Sangli, Maharashtra, Feb 13 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Sangli district chief Sudhakar Khade was today arrested on rape charges.
Miraj town police inspector Bajirao Patil said Khade was arrested after the victim lodged a complaint.
The woman stated in her complaint that she had approached the then Miraj Urban Bank managing director Ashok Tavshe for a loan two years back and Khade had mediated on her behalf.
However, Khade and Tavshe had allegedly raped her often thereafter in lieu of the favour, while threatening her of dire consequences if she complained to the police.
The woman has also recently tried to commit suicide to avoid further torture from the two men, Mr Patil said.
Following her complaint, Khade was arrested while Tavshe is absconding, Mr Patil said.
