Shillong, Feb 13 (UNI) The Mizoram University has recognised the courses conducted at the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare (CIJW) School, Vairangte in Mizoram.

The recognition will be effective from June next.

PRO Defence Wing Commander Binoy Chongtham said the University has agreed to award diploma in low Intensity Conflict Operations Management to all officers who attend the eight-week duration 'Low intensity Conflict operation' Course.

Meanwhile, the University will also recognise regional language courses like Nagamese, Burmese, Manipuri and Thangkhul as certificate courses.

The recognition is indeed a great honour for the CIJW school since Mizoram is one of the central Universities. Mizoram University Vice-Chancellor A N Rai reviewed the the Syllabi/course contents of CIJW school.

This is an important development in the history of CIJW school, which now in the categories of Military institutions the world over is considered a centre of excellence for counter/counter training and is becoming a preferred destination for various foreign armies, the PRO Defence said.
