MAP inks MoU to explore Arunachal's herbal sector

Itanagar, Feb 13 (UNI) The Noida based, Maharshi Ayurveda Products Limited(MAP), has signed an MoU with Rajiv Gandhi Polytechnic(RGP) here yesterday to explore the vast herbal potential of Arunachal Pradesh.

The MoU would be implemented in close coordination with the state government, particularly the State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) and Regional Research Institute of Ayurveda (RRIA) to commercialise the herbal medicinal products, MAP chairman Anand Srivastava said.

''We will also take up education and research activities along with establishment of industry-institute relationship to provide a single platform for the growers, indigenous healers, manufacturers and academicians,'' Mr Srivastava said.

He further claimed that where modern medicines fail to cure minor ailments, Ayurveda had been able to offer a holistic approach to lead a life in its entirety.

''About 40 per cent patients in US suffer from various diseases due to side effects of modern medicines,'' Mr Srivastava said adding that the thousand-year-old ayurveda activates the Central Nervous System of human body to treat the targetted organ without affecting others.

The MoU intends to set up a centre for production, modern firms in different climates, to train villagers in cultivation and processing of herbs and research and record the indigenous healing system, Mr Srivastava said.
