Germany's AOK lists Ranbaxy products
New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) Germany-based Basics GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd, today announced that the company's products have been selected by 16 Allgemeine Ortskrankenkassen (AOK), Germany's largest general local health insurance, for listing.
The listing applies to 43 molecules or combination drugs in all. The total expenditure volume for these medicines amounts to 1.7 billion euros per annum for the AOK nationwide.
Basics/Ranbaxy is the only Indian company in the AOK list.
AOK has selected up to three companies (including Basics) for each molecule, whose products will be listed and recommended for AOK patients.
''We expect to economise our expenditures for these products to a significant extent nationwide,''said Dr Christopher Hermann, Executive Vice President of AOK Baden-Wuerttemberg, the initiator of the nationwide agreement.
The AOK represents about 35 per cent of all health insurance policy holders in Germany (more than 25 million insurants).
The products such as Amlodipin Basics, Captopril comp Basics, Cefaclor Basics and Cefuroximaxetil Basics, etc of Basics/Ranbaxy are recommended for use by AOK patients.
The agreement is valid from January 1 to December 31, 2007.
