Fire at cracker unit: Three women killed

Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, Feb 13 (UNI) Three women were killed in a fire at a private cracker manufacturing unit at Anaiyur near this town in Virudhunagar district today.

Police said the incident occurred when the three were engaged in manufacture of fancy crackers.

The victims were rushed to hospital where they succumbed to burns.

They were identified as R Veeralakshmi (25), M Manickam (20) and M Lakshmi (45).

The crackers unit under Maraneri police limitsis was part of the larger Kaleeswari fireworks, police added.

A case had been registered at Maraneri police station.
