EC serves showcause notice on NDTV

New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today served a show cause notice on NDTV for telecasting instant exit poll results of Punjab, violating Section 126 of the Peoples Representation Act.

According to EC sources, the section clearly states that no attempts should be made to influence the voters 48 hours before the poll date.

Election process can be influenced by showing instant exit poll results, the sources added.

The news channel has been asked to reply by 1630 hrs today.
