Delhi Police SI, Constable arrested for taking bribe

New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) A Sub-Inspector and a Constable of the Delhi Police have been arrested for allegedly accepting bribe to let off a man charged in a theft case.

Sub-Inspector Shiv Kumar and Constable Puran Singh, posted at Hauz Khas police station, were arrested yesterday by CBI sleuths while accepting Rs 3,500 from the complainant, said the CBI today.

Both had demanded Rs 15,000 to clear the name of the complainant from a case involving theft of a cellphone and threatened to implicate him if he failed to comply.

They later reduced the bribe amount to Rs 3,500.
