Cobras rescued from captivity at Shiva Temple
Katihar, Feb 13 (UNI) This was something the cobra duo had not bargained for.
When the two large snakes entered the sanctum sanctorum of a Shiva temple in Gobindpur village under Amdebad police station of this district little did they realise that the locals would hold them captive and feed them milk.
The villagers, thinking the reptiles' appearance a divine blessing of lord Shiva, held captive the slithery beings and offered them prayers, milk and even cash.
After a weeklong captivity the Forest department officials yesterday pursuaded the villagers to part with their 'pets'. They released the Nag and Nagin to a nearby jungle much to the devout villagers' chagrin.
