BSF hands over body to BDR at Petrapol

Bongaon, Feb 13(UNI) The Border Security Force at Petrapol, North 24 Parganas, handed over the body of a 26-year old Bangladeshi youth to Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar said today.

He said the body of Bangladeshi smuggler Irfan Ali of Jessor District was kept in the morgue here since January 27. The police handed it over to the BSF only after official clearence from the Union Home ministry for deportation of the body to the Bangladesh authority.

Official sources said Irfan Ali was shot down by the BSF when he alongwith his three accomplishes were crossing the border near Bagdah with four bags of smuggled garments. Three others,however, escaped unhurt. BSF men patrolling the border opened fire to prevent them, but they managed to flee.
