Varanasi, Feb 13 (UNI) It was not the saffron-brigade or intermittent shower, that dampened the valentine spirit here today.

Instead, the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) security personnel played spoilsport by uprooting the toony tale of Valentine Day colours just hours before the actual V'day.

The incident took place an the 'Madhuban' park on the BHU campus, where a final year painting student of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Kaushalesh had put up Valentine Express -- an exhibition of cartoons dealing with Valentine Day.

Getting information of the exhibition being organised at the park, the proctorial board personnel rushed to the spot and hurriedly put an end to the expose, carrying back the toon creations of the young artist.

''I do not know what is their problem. This is an attack on our creative freedom,'' said Kaushalesh.

The toony tale of Valentine Day comically dealt with the most sought about occasion of the love-birds, with one of his creations showcasing two monkeys sprucing themselves up to attract georgeous girls on V'day, while another cartoon depicted an anti-Valentine Day youth taking free gifts for his sweetheart from a gift shop vandalised by him.

The BHU proctorial board officials, however, staying clear of any controversy maintained the exhibition was not allowed to take off as the young artist had not taken prior persmission.

A proctorial board picket has also been deployed at the park as precautionary measure.
