9 dead as bus plunges into canal

Agra, Feb 13 (UNI) At least 9 passengers, including a boy and two women, were killed when a bus plunged into Vichpuri Canal in the Jagdishpura area this afternoon.

Superintendent of Police S S Baghel said the bus, carrying about 30 passengers en route to Kirawali, was hit in the rear by an oncoming truck at Pathauli village.

Consequently, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into the canal killing nine people on the spot.

Later, the deceased were identified as Vinesh Kumar Tyagi (22), Srimati (35), Sajjan (45), Shivangi (18), Dharmendra (10), Bhagwan Singh (48), Rambabu (42), Guddu (30) and Sushali (22).

Meanwhile, the 11 injured have been admitted to hospital.
