80 tourists stranded at Kufri, says Shimla DC
Shimla, Feb 13: Eighty tourists, including women and children, were stranded at Toshali Resorts at Kufri, 17 km from here, following heavy snowfall on the Kufri-Chail Road, Shimla Deputy Commissioner Tarun Kapoor today said.
''Eighty tourists of 12 families, originally staying at Shellon Resorts, 10 km from Kufi, on the Kufri-Chail road set out on foot early today towards Kufri before extreme cold and distance tired them out,'' he told sources here.
Mr Kapoor said the tourists later took shelter in Toshali Resorts where the district administration has already dispatched essential food items and medicines for them.
The administration has also begun snow-clearing operation from the both sides of the road to allow plying of vehicles on it, he said.
He said a medical team has also been dispatched from Jungah, near here, on foot to provide immediate medical aid to an ill child and three or four high blood pressure patients in the resorts.
More than a hundred litres of diesel has also been dispatched to the resorts, which was without power for the past two days, Mr Kapoor added.
