Two police officials shifted out of sensitive Majitha segment

Amritsar, Feb 12 (UNI) The Election Commission today ordered the shifting of two police officials from the sensitive Majitha assembly constituency.

An intimation to this effect was received by the district Returning Officer from the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) at Chandigarh, official sources here said.

The officials shifted were DSP Balbir Singh and Majitha Station House Officer (SHO) Jarnail Singh. They have been directed to leave the constituency immediately and not enter it till further orders.

Majitha is a high profile constituency as the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate here is Bikramjit Singh Majithia, brother-in-law of SAD general secretary Sukhbir Badal and grandson of late Surjit Singh Majithia, a former Union Minister and the first MP of Amritsar Parliamentary constituency.
