TN ranked 3rd in infrastructure development: Survey

Chennai, Feb 12: Tamil Nadu is ranked third in terms of infrastructure development among Indian states.

According to a study conducted by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), a mumbai-based organisation, Tamil Nadu ranked third by scoring 144 points in its development index column.

The survey was on the basis of industrial development of an area depending upon factors like availabilty of resources both human and material, infrastructure facilities and entrepreneurial skill.

The first prerequisite to accomplish the task by the Small Industries Service Institute (SISI) was to have a first hand assessment of the problems and prospects of these industries in a particular district of the state to decide the director of its promotional efforts to formulate a realistic approach.

Punjab stood first in the survey by scoring 191.4 in development index followed by Kerala with 157.1 points.
