Subodh Kkant demands compensation for hailstorm-affected farmers

Ranchi, Feb 12 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Food Processing Subodh Kant Sahay has demanded that the Jharkhand government provide compensation to the hailstorm-affected farmers from the Disaster Management Fund.

In a letter to state Agriculture Minister Nalin Soren, Mr Sahay said a huge quantity of crop had been damaged in the hailstorm last night, adding small and marginal farmers were the most affected.

Mr Sahay said those farmers would be in debt if financial assistance was not provided to them.

Mr Sahay had also urged the Agricultural Minister to constitute a team comprising senior agricultural scientists to evaluate the losses of the farmers.
