SEZ land to be acquired only after proper compensation: Somaiya
Mumbai, Feb 12 (UNI) No land should be acquired forcibly for special economic zone without finalising a total compensation package, former BJP MP Dr Kirit Somaiya today said.
Talking to reporters Dr Somaiya said the BJP has already intimated the Central and the state government that private transaction of land purchase should be encouraged between developer and farmers and acquisition of agriculture land should be avoided.
He said that mega SEZ should be encouraged away from the metro city and added that 45 villages and over one lakh persons are getting affected due to 12,000 hectare Maha Mumbai SEZ.
''It is sad that without enacting SEZ act, rehabilitation policy, compensation and project affected people package, Maharashtra government have initiated action of compulsory land acquisition in these 45 villages,'' he alleged.
