SEC announces ZPTC/MPTC poll schedule

Hyderabad, Feb 12 (UNI) The State Election Commission today announced the schedule for elections to two Zilla Parishad Terroritorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) and six Mandal Parishad Terroritial Constitutencies (MPTCs) in Andhra Pradesh.

The ZPTCs, which would go to the polls were Karmpudi in Guntur district and Lokeshwaram in Adilabad district, while MPTCs were Peddadevulapalli in Tripuram mandal of Nalgonda district, Ravindernagar in Kowthala mandal in Adilabad district, Dowleshwaram-2 in Rajahumundry rural mandal in East Godavari district and Babilgaon in Sadasivpet mandal, Kanchanpalli in Kowdipalli mandal and Nizampet in Nizampet mandal, all in Medak districts, SEC A V S Reddy, said in a communique here.

While the notification would be issued on February 15, the last date for filing of nominations was February 19, their scrutiny will be carried out on February 20, appeals against rejected nominations on February 21, disposal of appeals the next day and the last date for withdrawal of canditure would be February 23.

The list of contesting candidates would be published on February 23 and the polls would be held on March one. The counting would take place on March 2, it added.
