Rajiv,Indira Sagar projects will be completed in 2011: YSR
Hyderabad, Feb 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajsekhara Reddy today asserted that the proposed Indira and Rajiv Lift Irrigation projects would be completed by the end of 2011.
Assuring a delegation, led by Communist Party of India (CPI) senior leader Nageshwar Rao, which urged him to take up the two projects on a war-footing, Dr Reddy said the government would allocate Rs 300 crore to construct the two projects on Godavari river during 2007-08.
The Indira Sagar project would provide irrigation water to two lakh acres of land in Khammam district, 45,000 acres in Krishna and 25,000 acres in West Godavari districts.
The Rajiv Gandhi project would provide water to two lakh acres in Khammam district by lifting 16.5 tmc water from the existing Dummugudem project, an official release here said.
