Rain gods may play spoilsport on V'day in UP
Lucknow, Feb 12 (UNI) The continuous rainfall in Uttar Pradesh might play spoilsport to the coming Valentine Day celebrations.
People of the state woke up to another rainy day today. The Sun god did not shine for the third consecutive day.
Life in UP was thrown out of gear for almost 48 hrs as the rainfall continued to lash in short spells.
''The change in weather is the result of fresh western disturbances and snowfall in Uttarakhand, while with more rainfall expected in the coming days, people of the state should be prepared for another cold week,'' the met told UNI today.
In the last 24 hrs, moderate rainfall occurred in Allahabad, Jhansi, Varanasi, Saharanpur, Faizabad, Kanpur, Bareilly and Lucknow divisions.
Bahraich turned out to be the wettest place in UP recording 38.8 mm rainfall. Although mercury continued to be above normal.
Allahabad -- at 11.1 degrees Celsius -- one degree above normal, was the coldest place in UP.
Rainfall has played havoc with the schedule of trains. The Avadh-Assam Express, Allahabad bound Triveni Express and Reevanchal Express were running late.
A report from Hameerpur said the change in weather spells doom for the farmers, who are already battling with starvation owing to poor crops for the last few yrs.
People are facing hardships owing to heavy load shedding and continuous rainfall since last two days, a report from Allahabad said.
Weatherman have forecast rainfall accompanied by thundershowers and squall in the past 24 hrs.
