Hyderabad, Feb 12 (UNI) Opposition parties in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly today criticised Governor Rameshwar Thakur's speech in the House, alleging that it did not contain anything about the welfare of the common people and backward classes in the state.

Opposition leader and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu said the Government was not bothered about the welfare sector in the state.

It was clearly evident in the speech that the government policies were only helping influential people and were not for the poor people in the state. The Governor's speech did not contain anything about scholarships to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward classes, he said, adding in the name of Special Economic Zones, the government was helping big industrialists.

Opposing the Governor's speech, Floor leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) G Vijayarama Rao said the government, apart from totally neglecting the medical and health sector, had not mentioned anything about the problems of the farmers and measures to solve the power crisis in the state.

The government had failed to mention unemployment problem, industrial growth and measures for providing gas supply to gas-based power plants in the state, Mr Rao said adding the Governor's speech clearly indicated that the Chief Minister was totally against the formation of separate Telangana.
