Master Plan will be a disaster: Delhi BJP

New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) Delhi Pradesh BJP today alleged that Delhi Master Plan will be a disaster as it is being implemented in a haste.

The central government had to notify the master plan kneeling to BJP's demand and that of the people of the city but the way in which it was being hastily implemented without making proper preparations and without ascertaining opinions of all concerned, it would be disastrous, Delhi Pradesh BJP President Harsh Vardhan and party MP V K Malhotra told mediapersons.

''The new master plan will make Delhi the most unplanned, sick and mega slum city. In reality it is a plan to sell Delhi to the builder lobby.'' Delhi would have to sufer due to the evil intentions of Congress to take political advantage of the master plan. Had it been implemented in time, then more than 50,000 shops would not have to be sealed. More than 10,000 houses would not have been bulldozed. Four people would not have died and lakhs of people would not have been rendered unemployed, the two leaders said.

''It is being implemented without scientific thinking and planning.'' ''Congress has finally implemented an incomplete master plan in view of Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections. It does not contain zonal, sub-zonal and local area plans.'' On the one hand the master plan was silent on how roads, parkings, schools, parks, community centres, post offices, power, water, security, better environment would be provided to the people of unauthorised colonies slum dwellers, and on the other housing sector had been left in the hands of private builders, they said.

''The master plan has been implemented by the government with the intention of renouncing its responsibilities, making Delhi a concrete jungle and driving out the poor and helpless people from Delhi.'' The plan was also silent on where bulk trade markets would be shifted, they added.
